This 10-week sculpture course is designed for individuals who’ve worked with clay before and want to grow their skills in a supportive studio environment. Together we’ll explore building techniques, scale and form, surface finishes, and approaches to developing a sculptural idea from concept to completion. Each student will work on their own project with guidance tailored to their pace, style, and creative goals, building confidence through process, experimentation, and shared learning.

This beginner to intermediate friendly course is designed to help you explore the fundamentals of hand building ceramics while encouraging your personal expression. Each week, Lauren introduces new techniques and perspectives on working with clay. Whether you are new to the medium or seeking to refine your skills, the course is structured to support both those who value guided instruction and those who prefer a more independent, exploratory approach.

Held within the shared Farmer Street Studios, these sessions give you access to Lauren’s full shared studio setup including tools, materials, glazing, and firing facilities, along with support when you need it. It’s a relaxed environment for individuals of all levels to play, experiment, and grow in their own time.
We’re a hand building sculpture focused studio, working primarily with Earthenware Paper Clay, a forgiving, versatile material that can be reworked over time, perfect for sculptural and experimental projects.
You’re welcome to attend weekly, monthly, or whenever it suits your schedule. Your first session includes a bag of paper clay to get you started.

These relaxed Friday morning sessions are designed for retired or semi-retired individuals who’d like to explore clay in a supportive, social environment. Whether you’re completely new to ceramics or returning to a creative practice, you’ll be guided through simple hand-building techniques to create sculptural or functional pieces at your own pace.
Classes are held within the shared Farmer Street Studios in North Perth, and are hosted by Lauren Jane Salt.
These sessions provide a calm and welcoming space equipped for all stages of making, from building to glazing and firing.
Each class focuses on enjoyment, learning, and connection, allowing you to work independently or with gentle guidance as needed. All materials and tools are provided, and beginners are warmly encouraged.
