This beginner to intermediate friendly course is designed to help you explore the fundamentals of hand building ceramics while encouraging your personal expression. Each week, Lauren introduces new techniques and perspectives on working with clay. Whether you are new to the medium or seeking to refine your skills, the course is structured to support both those who value guided instruction and those who prefer a more independent, exploratory approach.

Over the six weeks, students will explore:

꩜ Slab Building – Creating functional and sculptural pieces using slab techniques
꩜ Sculpture Techniques – Forming and refining artistic clay structures
꩜ Glazing Methods – Exploring surface decoration and finishes
꩜ Clay Properties & Best Practices – Understanding material behavior, drying, and firing processes
꩜ Clay, glazes, and all necessary tools
꩜ Firing services for your finished pieces
꩜ A welcoming studio environment shared with experienced ceramicists

Whether you're exploring your own creative ideas or prefer guided instruction, these open classes offer a welcoming space to immerse yourself in the world of hand-building ceramics.
Lauren fosters an inclusive, relaxed environment where students of all levels are encouraged to experiment, grow, and express their vision. We work with Paperclay—a versatile, sculpting-friendly clay that can be reworked over time—allowing you to develop your practice at your own pace, with support as needed. You're welcome to attend weekly, monthly, or whenever suits your schedule.
Classes take place within Farmer Street Studio, a shared space for community classes. We’re a fully equipped studio with in-house glazing and firing, making the process smooth from start to finish. Your first session includes a bag of Paperclay to get you started.

Studio time is flexible—once you’ve purchased your sessions, you’ll receive an email with scheduling details to confirm your start date. You can reschedule anytime through our booking calendar.
Session Packages:
꩜ 1 Class – $70
꩜ 5 Classes – $350 ($70 per class)
꩜ 10 Classes – $650 ($65 per class)
꩜ 20 Classes – $1,200 ($60 per class)
