This beginner to intermediate friendly course is designed to help you explore the fundamentals of hand building ceramics while encouraging your personal expression. Each week, Lauren introduces new techniques and perspectives on working with clay. Whether you are new to the medium or seeking to refine your skills, the course is structured to support both those who value guided instruction and those who prefer a more independent, exploratory approach.
What You'll Learn
Over the six weeks, students will explore:
⚚ Coiling – Building forms using hand-rolled coils
⚚ Slab Building – Creating functional and sculptural pieces using slab techniques
⚚ Sculpture Techniques – Forming and refining artistic clay structures
⚚ Glazing Methods – Exploring surface decoration and finishes
⚚ Clay Properties & Best Practices – Understanding material behavior, drying, and firing processes
⚚ Clay, glazes, and all necessary tools
⚚ Firing services for your finished pieces
⚚ A welcoming relaxed studio environment
